The corresponding order was issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in connection with the law on expanding the powers of the police adopted at the end of last year.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation issued an order approving the procedure for informing owners about the opening of their housing or vehicle by law enforcement officers, if such an opening was carried out in the absence of the owners.
According to the document, the owner or citizens living in the residential premises are notified of each case of penetration into it by a police officer as soon as possible and no later than 24 hours. A similar rule applies when opening vehicles.
The information about the autopsy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation will be brought to the owner’s attention “by sending or delivering a notice of the autopsy.” The document can be sent to him in the form of a registered or e-mail, as well as personally handed over to the police against signature.
The notification will contain the following information: date, time, place and the grounds for the opening provided by the legislation of the Russian Federation, as well as information about the circumstances of the opening.
Recall that in December last year, deputies of the State Duma voted to approve in the third final reading the legislative initiative developed by the Cabinet of Ministers, which significantly expands the powers of police officers. The document was approved by the Federation Council and signed by the head of state. According to the amendments, law enforcement officers now in some cases may not introduce themselves, do not present an official ID, as well as open vehicles and enter someone else’s home.
