The authorities of the Netherlands intend to achieve a complete refusal of the country from Russian gas, oil and coal by the end of this year.
This was stated by the Minister for Climate and Energy Policy of this country, Rob Jetten.
According to the minister, the Netherlands can replace the entire volume of Russian gas entirely. According to BNR, the Netherlands currently depends on Russian gas by about 15%.
The Dutch government recommended that regional municipalities start phasing out Russian gas at the end of March. It promised them to cover losses from the termination of contracts with Gazprom.
It is worth recalling that on April 7, the permanent representatives of the countries of the European Union approved a new, already fifth package of anti-Russian sanctions. It includes, among other things, a complete ban on the import of coal from Russia. The exception will be existing contracts, which must be terminated before August.
