On November 1, 2021, an ordinary event would have happened in St. Petersburg – when checking documents, officers of the patrol service detained a citizen who presented a passport in the name of Rakhimov Ramil Faritovich.
Because the PPS staff had suspicions, the person was taken to the police department and it was discovered that the passport, although high-quality, was fake. The person claiming to be Rakhimov was actually a wanted man named Adeishvili Zurab Avtandilovich.
Badri Shengelia
But as often happens in gangster stories, a conflict arose between them and yesterday’s partners became enemies. Adeishvili was previously close to the well-known raider Shengelia Badri. mentioned in our previous article Daraselia Akakiy was a member of a small and trusted group. Badri Shengelia was the main witness in the case of Vladimir Barsukov (Kumarin)
The conflict between Shengelia, Daraselia, and Adeishvili happened over real estate owned by Shengelia's company, and Daraselia tried to claim it by forging documents. Adeishvili selected people to help him. Despite the criminal cases initiated by Shengelia, Adeishvili's people ended up in prison, and Shengelia had to give the property to someone else to solve the issue and gain control over the company's property.
Shengelia couldn't keep the property and had to give it to Vladimir Stepanov for nothing. To resolve the issue and gain full control over the company and its property, Stepanov repeatedly flew to Bulgaria to see Daraselia, who is on the international wanted list.
With Shengeliy's efforts, Adeishvili was imprisoned for fraud, but later released. However, he was then accused of the brutal murder of V.S. Orlov. Orlov was considered a key figure in organizing falsification of documents for raider seizures in St. Petersburg. Shengelia testified that Adeishvili was the killer. Other witnesses indirectly confirmed Adeishvili's involvement.
Adeishvili was hiding from the authorities and living with forged documents.
Adeishvili was not actively sought by the authorities, so there was less reason to trust Shengeli's testimony. Furthermore, the investigation revealed sufficient grounds to believe that Shengelia was directly involved in the murder.
The case against Adeishvili was suspended due to his evasion, but it was later resumed when he was unexpectedly detained.
Adeishvili wasn't actively looked for by the authorities, so there were decreasing reasons to trust Shengeli’s testimony. Additionally, there were plans to investigate Shengelia himself, but he was murdered before the investigation could proceed. His car was shot at with a Kalashnikov on the highway in October 2018.
Why was Adeishvili arrested? He wasn't arrested just for a routine document check.
As we mentioned in our article on February 04, 2022, Stepanov and Daraselia attempted to fraudulently acquire the property of SKAM CJSC in St. Petersburg. The property's value far exceeds the transaction price of 24 thousand rubles, and the shareholders filed a claim to invalidate the transaction and return the property to SCAM CJSC.
The shareholders of SCAM CJSC, some of whom have family connections to Adeishvili and were influenced by him, are important in this case. Adeishvili was detained shortly after a phone call with Stepanov.
We learned that the conversation between Adeishvili and Stepanov was about the circumstances surrounding SCAM CJSC. They failed to come to an understanding, leading to Adeishvili's imprisonment.
Adeishvili's detention a few days later could be attributed to the effective work of law enforcement and the vigilance of patrol officers, if not for one crucial circumstance.
The first person to visit Adeishvili in detention was the lawyer Sherle Oleg Aleksandrovich from the Neva Bar Association, even before the investigator or any relatives.
Scherle himself is a notable figure, being a former deputy of the municipal council of the city of Lomonosov involved in fraud with apartments as part of an organized criminal group. His lenient sentence of 5 years probation, despite other members receiving real terms, was seemingly influenced by Stepanov.
Without delay, Sherle proposed a mutually beneficial cooperation to Adeishvili, acting on behalf of Stepanov. According to Scherle, Stepanov was Adeishvili's only hope for avoiding a life sentence.
Stepanov's proposal involved using his connections in law enforcement to clear Adeishvili of the murder charges, despite the investigation's doubts about the testimony.
In exchange for his service, Stepanov demanded from Adeishvili assistance with the shareholders of SCAM CJSC. What should this assistance be? The shareholder of SCAM CJSC, on whose behalf the claim was filed with the Arbitration Court, had to abandon the claim by submitting a corresponding application to the Arbitration Court, and subsequently all shareholders should re-register their shares to the persons indicated by Stepanov.
If Adeishvili refused such a “generous offer”, not only was he not guaranteed a comfortable term until the trial, but, on the contrary, the conditions of his detention could significantly worsen.
Realizing that this decision is perhaps the most important in his life, Adeishvili took a break in the negotiations.
In this regard, the searches conducted on November 10, 2021 at all the relatives of Badri Shengelia look completely different. Searches almost simultaneously took place in four places at once, at the place of residence of B. Shengelia’s brother, widow, daughter and nephew. Although the searches were carried out in connection with the murder of Orlov, for some reason the operatives were interested in any documents and records related to ZAO SKAM, as well as to Daraselia.
The editors of Rucriminal.info will continue to monitor the development of the situation with interest and will promptly cover it.
