The St. Petersburg City Court rejected a complaint to extend the arrest of the owner of the Rive Gauche network and the former co-owner of Yulmart, August Meyer, accused of fraud for 2.3 billion rubles.
On Wednesday, March 2, Lente.ru was informed by the joint press service of the city courts.
The defense asked him to choose a measure of restraint in the form of house arrest or bail of up to 25 million rubles, but the court decided to leave Meyer in jail until June 1. He pleaded not guilty in the case and said that the money given had gone to the suppliers.
On December 8, Meyer was detained in St. Petersburg on suspicion of embezzling 2.3 billion rubles from a bank. The funds were received by Ulmart in the form of business development loans shortly before the collapse of the company, which ceased operations in March 2020. The legal entities of the company are going through bankruptcy proceedings. Together with Meyer, his wife and business partner Inna Meyer was detained, who was later placed under house arrest.
