Co-owner of Alfa-Bank Mikhail Fridman called the war in Ukraine “a tragedy for the peoples of Russia and Ukraine.”
This is reported by the Financial Times, citing a letter that the billionaire sent to employees of his company LetterOne.
“I was born in Western Ukraine and lived there until I was 17. My parents are citizens of Ukraine and live in Lviv, my favorite city. But I’ve also spent most of my life as a Russian citizen creating and growing businesses. I am deeply attached to the Ukrainian and Russian peoples and see the current conflict as a tragedy for both of them,” Friedman wrote.
The co-owner of the bank also noted that “war cannot be the answer.” “This crisis will cost lives and damage two peoples who have been brothers for hundreds of years,” he added.
