Earlier, against the background of the military operation of Russian troops in Ukraine, the broadcasting of a number of Russian TV channels, including RT, was banned in Poland. RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan fell under EU sanctions.
On the morning of February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a military operation in Ukraine. Western countries called the actions of the Russian authorities a violation of the UN Charter and demanded the withdrawal of troops.
