Representatives of the People’s Freedom Party (PARNAS) and political activists Dmitry “Enteo” Tsorionov and Aleksey Minyailo, who joined them, filed an application with the Moscow City Hall on the morning of February 22 to hold a “Peace March” on March 5.
Znak.com was informed about this by Dmitry Tsorionov.
The oppositionists want to follow the route from Belorussky railway station to Lubyanka Square. As conceived by the organizers, the march, in which, in their opinion, up to 150 thousand people can participate, will help express the negative attitude of Muscovites to the threat of war with Ukraine.
“Delay or lack of response can lead to irreversible consequences. Muscovites and civil society in general can and should influence the decisions of the country’s leadership. Considering the emergency situation and the threat of war, we ask you to coordinate the event, ”the oppositionists said in an appeal addressed to the mayor of Moscow.
The application for holding the action was signed by PARNAS deputy chairmen Andrey Zubov and Mikhail Shneider, party representatives, as well as the coordinator of the Decommunization project Dmitry Tsorionov, human rights activist Alexei Minyaylo and other politicians and activists.
Earlier, on January 30, 2022, Russian representatives of the creative intelligentsia, musicians, actors and human rights activists spoke out against the war. They addressed the leadership of Russia with an open letter and demanded to stop the escalation of the conflict. Actress Liya Akhedzhakova, musician Andrei Makarevich, writer Viktor Shenderovich, human rights activist Lev Ponomarev, TV presenter Tatyana Lazareva, politician Grigory Yavlinsky and many others signed the open letter.
In addition, on February 13, the Yabloko party launched a petition against the war on its website. Now she has collected 17 thousand signatures.
