The court denied the defense of the ex-photographer of Navalny’s headquarters * Alexander Strukov, accused of incitement to terrorism, to replace the measure of restraint with house arrest and left him in jail until March 27.
About it informed human rights organization “First Department”.
Strukov’s lawyer Valeria Vetoshkina** told Znak.com that no investigative actions are being taken with Strukov, who has been in jail for more than three weeks, and there is no new news in the course of his criminal case either. “Unfortunately, now the practice is going in such a way that a person sits in a pre-trial detention center just for the sake of being in a pre-trial detention center. What is the use of keeping a young guy who is accused of making comments on the Internet, I don’t understand, ”said Vetoshkina **.
The photographer is accused of inciting aggravated hostility and public calls for terrorist activities because of comments in the Znak.com telegram channel chat. In total, he faces 10 and a half years in prison. He is charged under part 2 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Inciting hatred or enmity”) and under part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Public calls for terrorist activities”).
The investigation believes that from April 2021 to January 2022, Strukov left comments in the Znak.com telegram channel chat that spoke negatively about the security forces who used torture against suspects.
Earlier, Strukov’s lawyer Valeria Vetoshkina**, in a commentary to our publication, said that in Strukov’s comments, experts found “a threat to commit violent destructive actions” and “justification for committing destructive terrorist actions aimed at destroying employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the FSB, members of the United Russia party, representatives judiciary.”
