The Lefortovo Court of Moscow began considering a criminal case against Alexei Navalny, founder of the Anti-Corruption Foundation, on four counts of fraud and two counts of contempt of court in the course of the trial for defamation of World War II veteran Ignat Artemenko.
It is reported by RBC.
The offsite session is taking place in correctional colony No. 2 (IK-2) in the city of Pokrov, Vladimir Region. On it, in addition to Navalny and his lawyers, the wife of the oppositionist Yulia is present. The judge has already read the charges. According to the investigation, Navalny stole and spent for personal needs more than 350 million rubles collected for the FBK.
Contempt of court is imputed to the founder of the Fund because of the insult to judge Vera Akimova, who passed the verdict in the case of slandering veteran Artemenko. The materials contain more than 100 phrases of Navalny. On February 20, 2021, in a libel case, he was sentenced to a fine of 850 thousand rubles in favor of the state.
