The former Deputy Minister of Education, Marina Rakova, accused of fraud, has an apartment rental business in Greece, which she owned, including during her time in public service. This information was distributed by TASS with reference to a source in law enforcement agencies.
According to the interlocutor of the agency, since 2011, Marina Rakova owns the Aliki Beach company. This organization has premises in the Greek cities of Aliki, Galatas, Poros and rents them out.
It is worth recalling that according to the current Russian legislation, officials do not have the right to engage in entrepreneurial activities.
Recall that Marina Rakova was detained and arrested in October this year. She is charged with three counts of particularly large-scale fraud with funds from the Foundation for the Development of New Forms of Education, which she previously headed.
According to the investigation, while holding the position of Deputy Head of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, Marina Rakova contributed to the fact that the budget funds intended to finance the Teacher of the Future project were allocated to the Foundation for New Forms of Education Development, according to the materials of the criminal case. As a result, about 50 million rubles were stolen. Profile examinations revealed signs of falsification of reporting documentation for two scientific studies allegedly carried out by the foundation.
The investigation also believes that Rakova was involved in the theft of more than 20 million rubles as a result of fictitious employment of 12 employees of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation to combine them as researchers at the Institute of Social Sciences of the RANEPA in 2018-2020.
