Husband of “Miss Kuzbass – 2010” Ksenia Sapozhnikova Alexander Popov told investigators how he buried the body of his murdered wife in a forest belt. A video of the investigative experiment is published on the website of the department.
“I left Xenia there, went to the car, took a shovel, returned, started digging,” Popov admits in the video. The press release also shows how Sapozhnikova’s body was found following her husband’s testimony.
The body of Sapozhnikova was found the day before in the forest belt of New Moscow. A statement about her disappearance was filed by her husband, Alexander Popov, deputy head of the contract work department of the Moscow Metro, on January 10. According to him, his wife went to Dubai, from where she corresponded with him. The woman announced her plans to go to South Africa, after which she disappeared: he allegedly stopped receiving messages from her.
The police quickly found out that Ksenia did not leave Russia. After interviewing the woman’s relatives, the detectives learned from them that the style of messages that the husband showed was completely uncharacteristic of her.
According to preliminary information, the man admitted that he killed his wife during a domestic quarrel, after which he took his daughter away and got rid of the corpse. The story of the trip to Dubai, the man came up with to buy time. He managed to fool relatives and investigators for six months.
He is accused of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Murder”). Popov confessed to the murder and gave detailed incriminating evidence, they said in the capital’s Investigative Committee.
