The daughter of Russian oligarch Valery Kogan, 46-year-old Darina, and her husband Martin Bellamy decided to build 24 houses in the Cotswold village. This angered the locals.
The Daily Mail writes about it.
“Valery Kogan and her hedge fund head husband Martin Bellamy have infuriated the residents of the Cotswolds village with their grandiose plans to ‘refresh’ the countryside, the British tabloid reports.”
They printed for residents a glossy presentation of their development project, which outlines plans to build more than two dozen houses and a town hall for weddings and conferences. The village of the Cotswolds is located in southwest England in Gloucestershire and is considered one of the most picturesque places in the country. Villagers joke that the couple are “heard but not seen” as they often fly to their estate by helicopter, it was bought for £9.25 million (R935 million). The Daily Mail describes Russian businessman Valery Kogan as a man “who loves luxury homes and hires celebrities like Mariah Carey, Sir Elton John and Gloria Gaynor to entertain guests at lavish family parties.” Earlier, “Gazeta.Ru” reported on how a Russian billionaire from the Forbes list, the head of the DNS Group Dmitry Alexeev gave advice on how not to go to jail.
