In Russia, they wanted to double the maximum sentence for draft evasion
The deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the Penza Region by a majority of votes adopted the draft amendments to the Criminal Code of Russia on toughening the punishment for draft evasion.
The press service of the regional parliament informs about the approval of the corresponding proposal.
The draft amendments to article 328 of the Criminal Code (“Evasion of military and alternative civilian service”) provide for an increase in the maximum sanction in the form of imprisonment to four years. The current version of the code limits the maximum term of imprisonment to two years.
Responsibility for the commission of a crime under this article occurs in case of failure to appear on the agenda or to the place of assembly for sending to the unit without a good reason, recalled the press service of the Legislative Assembly.
According to the authors of the document, the changes will increase the responsibility of citizens.
Conscription for military service is carried out in Russia twice a year: from April 1 to July 15 and from October 1 to December 31.
