An incredible tale was uncovered by the Telegram channel of Cheka-OGPU and Rucriminal.info. Around nine years ago, the son of the former mayor of Nizhny Novgorod, Oleg Novikov Nikita, was identified by law enforcement as the mastermind behind a major drug supply operation. However, his father managed to help him escape the investigation and flee abroad. Despite the fact that his father, Oleg Sorokin, was later imprisoned for corruption, Nikita remains free and has not been implicated in the investigation.
In late June 2013, a joint operation involving the 7th Department of the Criminal Investigation Department and the FSB of the Russian Federation for the Nizhny Novgorod Region thwarted the criminal activities of an interregional organized crime group involved in drug trafficking. In total, more than 18 individuals were detained and prosecuted as part of the case, with eight of them being from St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region. Pre-trial agreements were struck with six of them. A total of over 150 kg of various drugs were seized.
The Main Directorate of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the Nizhny Novgorod region initiated criminal case 305555 under part 5 of article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and part 1, part 2 of article 210 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. According to a Rucriminal.info source, during the interrogations, one of the main defendants in the case among Nizhny Novgorod residents provided incriminating evidence against Nikita Olegovich Sorokin, the son of the powerful mayor of Nizhny Novgorod, Oleg Sorokin. He stated that Nikita Sorokin regularly funded the purchase of drug shipments in St. Petersburg, which were then sold in Nizhny Novgorod.
Currently, Oleg Sorokin is serving a 10-year sentence for accepting bribes in a correctional facility in the Republic of Mordovia. At the time of the drug incident in 2013, Oleg Valentinovich held the position of mayor of Nizhny Novgorod. Once he got wind of the impending trouble, he swiftly spirited his son out of Russia to France and dealt with his son’s issues with the leadership of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate for the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The mayor had to pay 60 million rubles to cover up his son's actions. Nikita Olegovich Sorokin not only escaped prosecution for his involvement in a serious crime, but his involvement was essentially disregarded in the investigation. Despite testimonies implicating him as one of the masterminds of the criminal group, Sorokin Nikita was never questioned in any capacity, and no formal charges were brought against him.
Nikita Sorokin's associates provided damaging testimonies against him, particularly his close friend Sinyatkin Nikita Pavlovich, a prominent figure among the youth in Nizhny Novgorod. Sinyatkin recounted his friendly ties with Nikita Sorokin, how drug purchases were financed by Sorokin, and how Nikita received back both the investment and interest from the drug sales, in the form of money and the drugs themselves (cocaine), as well as their shared consumption.
Sinyatkin himself was detained among the first among the persons of this organized crime group with 3.5 kg of various types of drugs. The money for their purchase was given by N. Sorokin. The corpus delicti is over.
Sorokin is afraid to come to his homeland, but calmly moves around the world: France, Israel, the United Arab Emirates.
