The Kremlin answered the question about the postponement of elections of heads of regions

No decisions have been made to postpone the elections of heads of Russian regions, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, answering a corresponding question from journalists.

His words are quoted by Interfax.

“No decisions have been made on the possibility of postponing the gubernatorial elections in the fall of 2023,” the press secretary of the head of state said.

He also added that in Putin’s schedule there are no meetings scheduled for early February with the leaders of the Duma factions. At the same time, Peskov recalled, such events are held regularly.

On a single voting day on September 10, 2023, election campaigns of various levels will be held in the country, including by-elections of deputies to the State Duma, elections of heads of more than 20 Russian regions and elections of deputies of legislative bodies.

In November 2022, Vedomosti, citing its own informed sources, wrote that the regions of Russia began to discuss with the presidential administration the possibility of canceling direct elections of mayors of administrative centers in those subjects where they remained.
