The Pechersky District Court of the capital sent to the Kyiv Court of Appeal an indictment against 49-year-old native of the Zaporozhye region Sergey Oleinik and his peer Lasha Dzhachvliani (known in the status of the so-called thieves in law» nicknamed «Umka»/»Umka Dneprovsky» and «Lasha Swan»/»Lasha Ochamchirsky» respectively) to resolve the issue on the direction of criminal proceedings against deserving persons to the Cassation Criminal Court of the Supreme Court to determine jurisdiction. The corresponding decision at the preparatory meeting on January 4, 2023 was made by the servant of Themis Svetlana Greceana, writes Detective-Info.
Thus, the Palace of Justice reacted to the petition filed by Umka's lawyers on the need to resolve the issue of territorial jurisdiction of the high-profile story of “forcing the Dnieper”, the nuances of which were previously reported on the pages of Detective-Info.

With this in mind, the defense of Oleinik and Dzhachvliani simultaneously supported the statement about the need to send an indictment in this proceeding to the Babushkinsky District Court of Dnipro. Representatives of the state prosecution expressed categorical disagreement with this, according to which the de jure place of the crime was “not determined”, and the spread of the criminal influence of “Lasha Svan” and “Umka” was carried out throughout Ukraine.
Recall that a day before the indictment against the kings of the underworld in the story of “forcing the Dnieper”, law enforcement officers re-arrested them as part of a new criminal case on suspicion of organizing/holding three so-called “thieves' meetings ”(Part 1 of Article 255-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
On December 28, 2022, the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv granted the petition for uncontested placement of Serhiy Oleinik and Lasha Dzhachvliani into custody. Behind bars, thieves in law are currently being held in the temporary detention facility of the National Police in the Ukrainian capital.
