Russian citizens took almost half a trillion rubles from banks after the announcement of partial mobilization.
This conclusion can be reached after reading the materials of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, the correspondent reports. DOPs with reference to document entitled “On the development of the banking sector of the Russian Federation in September 2022”.
It says (p. 2) that the funds of the population decreased in September by 458 billion rubles, the outflow occurred in the second half of the month, when the number of citizens who left the country and took cash with them increased.
And people also tend to withdraw cash in situations of stress or uncertainty, “as it was, for example, at the beginning of the year, but then they usually return the money to banks,” the regulator adds.
The Central Bank also notes that at the same time, foreign currency accounts decreased to a greater extent (-7.1 billion dollars, or -427 billion rubles, – 10.4%), while ruble accounts decreased less (-31 billion rubles, or -0.1%).
Recall that the special operation to protect the Donbass began in February this year.
And in autumn it was decree signed “On the announcement of partial mobilization in the Russian Federation.” Criteria were also defined: who falls under partial mobilization. Due to the fact that people had questions, a hotline 122 was launched to inform citizens on issues of partial mobilization.
