The Shakhty City Court announced the verdict for the deputy of the legislative assembly of the Rostov region from United Russia Igor Kundrat and engineer Anton Akolzin. Both men were accused of stealing gas worth tens of millions of rubles.

The details became known to the media from a representative of the joint press service of the courts of the Rostov region.
As previously reported by the investigation, from September 2016 to March 2020, the defendants in the case underestimated the actual consumption of natural gas by the Kundrat and PK Kundrat companies, thus stealing over 6 thousand cubic meters of gas. As a result of such frauds, Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Rostov-on-Don LLC lost more than 46.3 million rubles. The Notebook publication notes that adjustments to the operation of energy consumption metering devices were made at the enterprise using software. The gas was in tanks, and it was used for the needs of the bakery and refueling 70 company cars.
A criminal case against Kundrat and Akolzin was opened on the fact of theft, but in court the article was reclassified to a softer one – “Causing property damage to the owner by deceit in the absence of signs of theft.” Violators of the law admitted their guilt, after which they compensated for all the damage caused. Despite this, the prosecutor’s office insisted that both men be given 6 years in a penal colony. But the court decided to dismiss the case and imposed a fine of 25,000 rubles on each.
It is reported that the Shakhty city prosecutor’s office challenged the decision of the court. The appeal will be considered in the Rostov Regional Court.
